Sound Pioneer Ray Milton Dolby Dead at 80

Ray Milton Dolby was an American engineer and inventor of the noise reduction system known as Dolby NR. He was also a co-inventor of video tape recording while at Ampex.
In 1965, Ray Dolby founded today's well know company Dolby Laboratories. The pioneer work of Ray Dolby is still used in the audio industry for music, home entertainment, shows and movies. He was the master of noise-reducing and surround-sound technology.
According to the company sources, Mr Dolby was suffering from Alzheimer and was recently diagnosed for acute leukemia. Company President and CEO, Kevin Yeaman, said in a statement, “Today we lost a friend, mentor and true visionary,”
He is survived by his wife, Dagmar, his sons, Tom and David, their spouses, Andrew and Natasha, and four grandchildren. The sound and entertainment industry will miss him.
