Best Global Brands 2013-Apple Tops the List, While Google II & Coca-Cola III Position

Apple Declared Best Global Brands of 2013 by Interbrand Top 10 Best Global Brands of 2013 Since 2000, Interbrand has been listing world's best and valuable global brands every year. Coca-Cola company remained in top position till last year. This year, the 13 year legacy of Coca-Cola has come to an end, when we talk about the Best Global Brands for 2013. Apple, with the launch of iPhone 5C and 5S, is now topping the list of world's best and valuable global brands. Google which celebrated it's 15th birthday on Sept. 27, 2013, is in 2nd position followed by Coca-Cola. Though Google change in Brand Value has increased 34% that of Apple's 28% from the last year, yet it was not enough to topple Apple to from getting crowned. The top 10 list mostly comprise of technology based companies leaving only McDonald's and Coca-Cola as the non-technology based company. BlackBerry Cutting 4,500 Jobs BlackBerry To Fire 4,500 of its Staff After renaming itself from Research in Motion (RIM) to BlackBerry and launching two new models new Z10 and Q10 phone this year, BlackBerry is now feeling the heat of low selling of BB smartphones. BlackBerry has announced that they are going to fire around 4,500 employees. If this year firing is added to the last years, around 9,500 employees were sacked in 2012 and 2013. The new losses will reduce Blackberry's 12,700-plus global workforce by about 40%. The company said that it will cut operating cost by 50% by the end of the first quarter of 2015. Sound Pioneer Ray Milton Dolby Dead at 80 Ray Dolby, Founder of Dolby Laboratories On September 12, 2013, Ray Dolby, died at the age of 80 in his home at San Francisco. Ray Milton Dolby was an American engineer and inventor of the noise reduction system known as Dolby NR. He was also a co-inventor of video tape recording while at Ampex. In 1965, Ray Dolby founded today's well know company Dolby Laboratories. The pioneer work of Ray Dolby is still used in the audio industry for music, home entertainment, shows and movies. He was the master of noise-reducing and surround-sound technology. According to the company sources, Mr Dolby was suffering from Alzheimer and was recently diagnosed for acute leukemia. The decision to buy Nokia is one of the biggest deal and is taken with the planned retirement announcement of Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer.
