Archaeological Survey of India & Google Tie Up to Show Indian Heritage Online
For those who are unable to visit Indian Monuments there is a hope from Google and ASI. Soon, anyone in the world will be able to see 360 degree view of Indian Heritage Monuments via the collaboration of Google and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Chandresh Kumari Katoch said, “We have always embraced technology. The new panoramic imagery of monuments will allow the ASI to boldly take forward its mission of embracing partnerships for the future in order to preserve and propagate the rich heritage of India’s past.”
Google is planning to use Google Trekker technology that takes Street View off-road. Via Google's Street View backpack, Google has captured the world's beauty like Eiffel Tower, Grand Canyon, Galapalagos Islands etc. on Google Map's Street View. Now, it's time for the world to see the Indian Heritage monuments like the Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb and the Ajanta and Ellora caves etc, a total of 100 heritage sites of the country.
As soon as Google will finish the Indian Monuments 360-degree panoramic imagery task, it will be uploaded to Google Maps and on Google Cultural Institute’s World Wonders site. With the completion of the project, the gate for "virtual tourism" or "digital tourism" of India will be opened to the world.
